The Ministry of Sports, Fitness and Recreation has signed an agreement with Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) to construct a multi-sports complex in AA. Rasdhoo, as part of a nationwide initiative to improve fitness infrastructure across the Maldives.
The agreement was formalized by Sports Minister Ibrahim Rafiu and MACL Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef. The project is part of a broader commitment by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to establish fitness and recreation centers in every inhabited island by next year.
The Rasdhoo complex will include an indoor gym, a dedicated women’s exercise room, a multi-purpose sports hall for various indoor games and activities, a board games area, and a meeting room.
This initiative is part of a larger agreement between the Ministry and MACL to develop fitness and recreation centers in 63 islands across the country, supporting the administration’s goal of promoting healthy lifestyles and accessible recreational spaces for all communities.
No official timeline for the start or completion of the Rasdhoo project has yet been announced.
